Randy Dickey - Line Producer
Born in the shadow of Seattle’s famous Space Needle and blessed with
a name like his, Randy Dickey was destined for a career in entertainment. Early
on, he learned to turn the tables on the kids who picked on him by making them
laugh. After finding out his name in the British vernacular translates to "Horny
Penis," he contemplated the adult film industry. Nevertheless, Randy’s
forays into the world of entertainment have been a roller coaster ride on both
sides of the camera.
His first job was as the youngest writer on the sports staff of The Olympian,
one of western Washington’s largest newspapers. His first role on film
was that of "Bartione Tuba Player #1" in the Oscar-Nominated (Best
Costume Design) film Heart Like A Wheel(Look for the back of Randy’s head
about an hour in).
After excelling in a TV production course in high school, Randy took his communication
skills to Washington State University where he not only wrote for the college
paper and hosted his own show on the campus radio station, but also helped create
the emmy-winning college television comedy show, Live at Eight.
The 30-minute, live sketch comedy program not only helped Randy develop his
skills as a writer, producer and performer, but introduced him to several friends
he would remain close with for years to come.
After college, Randy’s dream was to pursue a career as a comedy writer/performer.
But to make money, he learned to bartend. Since 1991, Randy has worked in all
aspects of the television world. From sports productions, to network specials,
to local television promotion, Randy has lived the best and worst the TV industry
has to offer … and they still pay him!
In 2000, Randy joined back up with a handful of friends from college to come
up with a way to use all of their shared experience to create TV and film productions
on their own terms. The Five Stages of Beer is the first production to evolve
from those meetings.
Randy is currently writing a screenplay for an all-mime version of Fiddler on
The Roof. He is single and lives in Seattle. (Phone number available upon request,
